The new legislation that would create an advisory board within the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to increase the ranks of women in trucking may be introduced soon.
As of right now, Women in Trucking are still underrepresented.
According to FreightWaves, a draft of the bill states the trucking industry “should explore every opportunity and support the pursuit of careers in trucking by women”.
Furthermore, the legislation would establish a five-member “Women in Trucking Advisory Board”.
It would consist of members from a major trucking company, a non-profit trucking organization, a trucking business association, an independent owner-operator, and a professional drivers’ association.
