The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) just released a research topic list for 2019. The list covers topics from truck parking to tolls and safety metrics. Not only does the research committee consists of several diverse individuals with experience in the trucking and transportation industry, but also academic and state government officials.
Equally important, the topic truck parking was ranked No. 5 priority of industry concerns. The ATRI will start collecting data starting the end of March 2019. No database as of right now has records about how many parking spaces are available for trucking. Eventually, the goal is to have a better understanding of what truck parking information system are in place.
Moreover, research time and money will go to safety analysis and metrics such as the DRIVE-safe Act and young driver safety programs.
